Using Visual Evidence in Documentary Filmmaking:
This talk will focus on the decision-making process in using evidence to portray multiple perspectives about the controversy surrounding the 1989 protests in Tiananmen Square. Students will be shown raw footage from interviews of people on both sides of the controversy and then walked through the process of choosing which sections of the interviews to include in a documentary about the incident. In the end they will see the scene as a final product.
